The Story so far: We are two intrepid travellers,Charmaine Warrior a ceramicist from Bombay and Rod Walkera painter from all over the place! We married, had our son Joe & then all three of us went exploring.
During our adventures the rich colours, hot spices and crazy sounds of Asia seduced us. There we discovered the exquisite textiles, handloom fabrics, raw silks, the carved Gods & Goddesses, the fragrant incense, aromatic oils, sparkling jewels and unique treasures of Asia.
Slowly “Restless Native” was born and for the past ten years we have been dedicated to developing and maintaining long-term relationships with the many people we work with, integrating our designs with their amazing skills.
Our shop is in Penzance, Cornwall, on the main street but we are definitely not a mainstream shop! To quote our many customers: “ It is just like an Aladdin’s cave.” “This shop is like a corner of India.” “I love the colours.” “What’s that smell!?.” “I mustn’t keep coming in here, I want to stay all day!” “Have you got this in extra large?”
Enjoy the hot colours from the deserts of Rajasthan, cool blues from the palm-fringed coast of Kerala, warm and cosy woollens from the snow capped Himalayas, mango wood and silks from Thailand, to name just a few of the treasures we bring back with us from every trip. Also on offer is a spectacular range of silver jewellery created by some of the finest silversmiths in Asia.
We do the trekking, haggling and sweating so you don’t have to!
